Athlete transition is a hot topic in the career development industry here in Australia. Minimal research has been done, and often, each sporting code has its own processes, philosophy and resources to support athletes in the next chapter after their sporting occupation.

Max Kalis recently completed a case study of research asking over 250 people in sports, a blend of current athletes, ex-athletes and people who work in sports; through surveys and meetings, the findings have been collated into a report, which is available at maxkalis.com

In this episode, Max unpacks some of the themes and findings from his meetings and survey results in a bid to better support athletes in their transition from sport to the next chapter.

He provides a candid and honest opinion, linking both his professional experience in the coaching space and the design industry, where he developed his design thinking philosophy.

He also shares his personal anecdotes about addiction and the potential parallels of this with sports.
