The Balvenie Stories Series takes you behind the scenes of The Balvenie, to meet the people and explore the places that helped shape this incredible range of whiskies. Hosted by Gemma Paterson, The Balvenie Global Ambassador. In A Day of Dark Barley, Gemma explore explore what roasted peanuts, the legend of the Green Lady, and a retirement poem have in common. In July of 1992 Robbie and Brian were working at the distillery when some unusual barley was delivered to this courtyard. It was dark barley – barley that had been over roasted – dark and brittle. In this episode, the infamous duo recount their years of friendship and night shifts at The Balvenie, and share what it means to play a part in the making of our whisky.
