The 4th Day of Christmas: The Feast of the Holy Innocents, Martyrs (3rd of 3 Companions of Christ): Martyrs Not of Will, But of Deed, Matins - December 28
Manage episode 457908442 series 3353628
On December 28th, the 4th Day of Christmas, the Church celebrates the Feast of St. Holy Innocents, the first martyrs of the faith after the Nativity of our Lord. They are considered to be martyrs not of will, but of dead. Meaning, they did not die knowingly for the faith and against their mothers' will, but in fact did so die. Celebrating their feast day this close to Christmas reminds us that if we die for Christ, we do not die alone; for Christ was born to die for us, and if we die for and in him, we will not be forgotten by Him.
The Holy Innocents is the 3rd feast of the three companions of Christ during the 12 days of Christmas.
