While the Israeli government has taken steps to head off attempts to get these unsanctioned sacrifices underway, Jerusalem’s chief rabbi admits the sacrifice is incumbent upon the Jewish people even in current times, even in the absence of a Temple or a Red Heifer to purify Israel.
