John 11:41-42 Then Jesus looked up to heaven and said, “Father, thank you for hearing me. You always hear me, but I said it out loud for the sake of all these people standing here. So that they will believe you sent me.”
Are we this grateful to God? Jesus was already being thankful before he even made his request. Now it is very important to point out that a small detail. This is Jesus we are talking about, literally, God in the flesh. He was a blameless and Holy man walking among ordinary people. So he was capable of doing things that no human has ever done. But nevertheless, being thankful to God and giving him all the credit for all the good that happens in our life is walking in the footsteps of Jesus.
And by now you probably know that not every prayer will be answered. But we have to admit that not every prayer comes from a pure and sincere heart that is in alignment with God’s will. I can’t even imagine what this world would look like if every prayer made by every human being was answered. In a fallen world in which people are enslaved to money, pleasure and power that would be disastrous.
Father, we thank you for always hearing the prayers of righteous and we give you the glory for all the good that happens in our lives. Forgive our sins and help us to see what you see and hear what you hear, so that we can do what you would do and say what you would say. Amen!
