Imagine fighting in a foreign country where you didn't know who the enemy is and not being able to engage in enemy fire until the enemy was shooting at you.
A retired USMC Infantry Major and best selling author, tells the story of the early days of fighting in Ramadi, Iraq.
Scott, a retired USMC Infantry Major, describes how finding weapons in people's homes was not so black and white, as the enemy would threaten local citizens in order to hide their weapons in homes. In a city of 300K people and all the components that make it a city, were wiped out. It was similar to fighting in the Wild West.
It was the American's goal to build democracy, but it was also the reason that impacted the failure of the Afghanistan pullout.
Scott Huesing is the author of "Echo in Ramadi".
