The Industry Cosign speaks to entrepreneur, Ronier Golightly, better known as DJBabe, Owner and CEO of Motor City Popcorn.
The industry veteran is a business owner, DJ and author has been a budding entrepreneur since he started perfecting his talent on the turntables in 1984. He was an on-air radio mixer with WJLB (Detroit), Superadio syndication as well as both XM and Sirius before the two merged together. His entrepreneurship started when he was the owner of a well-known mixtape website - MixtapeDJs.net which distributed mixtapes from the top DJs and artists of that time. For the past 10 years, he has been running his gourmet popcorn business, Motor City Popcorn which today operates from its own retail storefront in Detroit and distributes its products to stores across the country including casinos in Las Vegas and Detroit, airports, museums, grocery stores and can be found inside of several Ford Motor auto plants.
Earlier this year, DJBabe released his first book entitled "I Finally Wrote This Book", which is a collection of stories from his past as a DJ traveling the US and eventually transitioning to starting a popcorn brand.
