Perez is an Assistant Professor in the School of Civic and Economic Thought at Arizona State University. His scholarship examines religion, ethics, and US national security. He was previously a postdoctoral fellow at the Kinder Institute on Constitutional Democracy at the University of Missouri. A fourth-generation native of California, he attended The Ohio State University and completed his doctoral studies at the University of Texas at Austin. He is also a 12-year veteran of the Air National Guard.
