Pirates broadcaster Greg Brown joined the show. Greg doesn’t have an answer as to how the Pirates can turn around this funk and if anyone’s job is on the line. Greg would be “shocked” if the Pirates finished in last of the NL Central, as it sits right now. Brownie credits the offense through this ugly stretch, but sees the bullpen as a major issue. He thinks it’s reasonable to move David Bednar out of the closer role. Greg doesn’t think it is necessarily ‘bad’ baseball that we are seeing in these Pirates losses. Greg doesn’t believe in luck on either side of this. We heard a “significant update” from Ian Rapoport on the Brandon Aiyuk situation. The thing holding this back is the 49ers or Aiyuk saying Yes.
