Your Self Care Matters More Than Putting Your Kids Needs First - Say What?!?
Manage episode 330821554 series 3359313
In today's solo episode, Shauna talks about the current myths around self care and mothering.
Because the two can't possible be used in conjunction with each other, correct?
We've been trained and modeled our whole lives that self care is selfish and a mothers moral obligation is to SERVE their families at the expense of their own health and well being.
Isn't that what it feels like???
She opens up with the BUSYNESS of the holiday season, slowing down, DOING LESS BETTER and how the current pressures for mothers to DO IT ALL is creating an epidemic of burned out, stressed out, overwhelmed mothers.
Most importantly, she brings to the front of the conversation of mothers obligation to Heal themselves in order to be the best mother they possibly can.
She shares her experience of BURNOUT - complete with candida overgrowth, adrenal fatigue and pure and utter exhaustion after having her third son.
Good nuggets include ...
- Slowing the eff down for the holiday season instead of ramping up
- Saying No
- 75% of mothers have experienced an increase in anxiety and depression since March 2020 according to Forbes Mag
- Healing yourself
- Self care is NOT selfish, it's critical for mothers to STOP the vicious burnout cycle and keep from passing it to their children
