A new study about hair treatments and breast cancer shows women who use chemical straighteners and permanent hair dyes are at greater risk of getting the disease. According to the study published in the International Journal of Cancer, permanent hair dye was associated with a 45 percent high risk of breast cancer in black women and a seven percent high risk of breast cancer in white women. We talk with Washington University medical experts at Siteman Cancer Center about the study and what it means. We’ll also hear from Jimmy Williams Jr. and Nolan Ruiz, prominent Gateway City area entrepreneurs about the secrets to their success.

Guests

  • Dr. Katherine Clifton, Washington University medical oncologist specializing in breast cancer
  • Dr. Adetunji Toriola, an epidemiologist and public health expert
  • Jimmy Williams Jr., President and CEO of Estel Foods Inc.
  • Nolan Ruiz, McDonalds Franchise Owner
