Off-the-plan buyers have to be prepared to play the waiting game, but for some it’s the perfect strategy. In the latest episode of The Pure Property Podcast, host Phil Tarrant and property investment expert Paul Glossop weigh up some of the pros and cons of getting in on the ground floor of a property development – or before the ground floor even exists, as the case may be. The duo welcome Gerald Touchard to share his journey from Paris-based chef to Australian buyer’s agent, who recounts how he built an international portfolio that spans across commercial and residential. But it’s in off-the-plan purchases that he has learnt some of his biggest lessons. Gerald recalls how some hurdles that he had to overcome in the purchase of a one-bedroom Waterloo apartment were ultimately worth it for the outcome, and shares his tips when considering buying before the home is built.
