Hey friends! Someone asked me how I got my daily cleaning done in 20 minutes a day.
The answer is..I put in a lot of work on the back end to get to this point. I decluttered with reckless abandon . I was ruthless. And guess what? I don't even remember what I got rid of!
So that means I really didn't need it. Other than a box of random wires that my husband wanted me to keep and I talked him into tossing it, then one day he needed something from that box and it was gone . But other than that I would say it's a win!
I also streamlined my cleaning products and put them in a cute little cleaning caddy, when it's go time I don't even have to think about it. I just look at my list and grab the caddy. In no time I'm done! VOILA
Cleaning and decluttering is not the same thing. I used to think cleaning was getting rid of all of the random junk lying around then and then cleaning afterward. These are two different things. Doing them out of order can be overwhelming and take WAY too much time! I don't know about you, but I would rather be outside, at Target or sipping a hot cup of coffee while snuggled up in my slippers.
I created a quarterly decluttering schedule, and I can stay on top of the clutter monster with ease! And so can you!!
Each January, April, July and October I go through my decluttering checklist. What is my checklist you're wondering? Here it is!
1.Kid's rooms-basically everything inside lol They can be like little squirrels stashing away nuts for winter. I go through drawers, and closets, changing out seasonal items when needed, and tossing clothes that are too worn to wear anymore. Donating clothing that no longer fits them. I look under the bed for random items that were lost or stuffed underneath in a hurried bedroom cleaning so they can outside or get back to what they really wanted to do.
2. All closets, which for us are our closet and the coat closet. 3. Garage 4. Van- my mom van can hold a plethora of random items, and they can accumulate quickly, even when I try to stay on top of it! 5. Nightstands 6.Bathroom cabinets 7.Seasonal Items/household items 8.Kitchen Drawers 9.Pantry
10. papers-Trash, shred or file.
Remember Rome was not built in a day, or in this case unbuilt lol so take it slow and don't get overwhelmed! If you are ready to create a peaceful home that runs smoothly and destress your life, I have some resources for you.
