Ep #87 Envisioning Christ as Your Savior Too with Guided Imagery and Songs by Karyn Lynn Grant

As a young mother, Karyn found herself in a marriage where her spirit was left empty, aching and longing. The spiritual and emotional chasm in her marriage continued to grow, creating a deeper longing and homesickness for a deeper and more personal relationship with Christ. "I remember getting up in the wee hours of every morning to find some time for prayerful meditation. These sweet morning devotions evolved from writing in my journal, to writing poetry (a portion was shared in Episode #86) and eventually into writing songs for Jesus." "I felt like I was starving for spiritual sustenance, hungry for that which no mortal man can offer. It was like my feeling of homesickness for heaven on earth was foraging an insatiable hole in my heart that could not seem to be repaired...at least not until I discovered my morning devotions with Him could fill that void." "I turned to the Savior every morning. I poured my heart out to Him when no one else was listening. I confided only in Him about these strange longings that could not be met by any mortal. I began opening my New Testament and mysteriously it seemed to fall open on verses about the women who followed Him in ancient times." "I couldn't believe that He was my Savior too, not at first. But, I felt something beautiful in each story. I saw the humility in each woman portrayed in those verses and it was as if, short vignettes began opening in my mind as I read. It was as if I could envision myself 'in-between-the-lines' of those precious passages" coming unto Jesus along side of those women." "Here are but three of those envisionings; three Guided Imageries that the Spirit led me on which each became a separate song with a separate visualization. No matter how lonely I felt in my first marriage, ( as I was unable to share these sacred songs and scenes with my spouse), my heart began to be buoyed up regardless of whether or not he received my spirit. Now, I began to feel and to believe that He was “My Savior Too." "That was 32 years ago. My third baby, Lara, was a newborn and my son Steven was soon to be born. During these years of pregnancy and childbirth, I grew to love these wee hours of the morning. I forward to when my babies would awaken in the darkness and call out to me for an early morning feeding." "As I fed them, my own spirit began to feel nurtured and nourished too. I began to feel that my heart homesick heart had found a silver cord to the heavens and gradually, these, and many more songs for the Savior was making me feel whole. That empty, aching, longing that had pervaded in my heart daily was now being filled to overflowing with a newfound testimony of Christ. This all came by daily, "Envisioning Him"." Karyn's reason for sharing these sacred "envisionings" is in the hope and with the prayer that if someone out there is feeling that same sort of empty, aching, longing for a deeper connection with their Savior too, that these messages may bring comfort, encouragement and faith to proceed in co-creating a more personal relationship with Him.
