The ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 is here, and the Top Order Podcast has you covered with regular game reviews and recaps.

In this episode of the show, we discuss the first semi-final, between India and the Black Caps.

The hours before the game were filled with social media controversy about the pitch, but out in the middle it was a run-fest as India piled on nearly 400 at the Wankhede.

From Rohit’s fast start to fantastic innings from Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer that will be overshadowed by Virat Kohli’s 50th ODI century, it was a brilliant display of batting from the home side. Was there anything the Black Caps could have done to slow down India?

But even with that mammoth score, New Zealand’s chase gave India a scare thanks to a Daryl Mitchell and Kane Williamson partnership that put them in within striking distance before Mohammad Shami put an end to that with a remarkable 7 wicket haul that sent India to the final.

We'll be back again tomorrow to review the second semifinal between Australia and South Africa, but until then please also take the time to give us a like, follow, share or subscribe on all our channels (@toporderpod on Twitter & Facebook, and @thetoporderpodcast on Instagram & YouTube) and a (5-Star!) review at your favourite podcast provider, or tell a friend to download. It really helps others find the show and is the best thing you can do to support us. You can also find all our written content, including our Hall of Fame series, at our website.

You can also dip back into our guest episodes - including chats with former World Cup stars Shane Bond and Mike Hussey, current players such as Matt Henry, Sophie Devine and Ish Sodhi, coaches Gary Stead, Jeetan Patel and Luke Wright, as well as Barry Richards, Frankie Mackay, Bharat Sundaresan and many more fascinating people from all across the cricketing world.
