Dr. Sarabeth Berk's life work was born out of her own professional identity crisis.
For years, she felt stuck and pigeonholed in her career path, and she had a hard time realising and verbalising who she was.
The absolute “aha” moment came when she was interviewing people working in different industries and they all had the same feedback : they felt misunderstood, and not well represented by their job titles.
That’s when she realised workers can be hybrids, the combination of all their work identities, instead of only experts, generalists, or jacks-of-all-trades.
And this completely changed how she saw herself and how she wanted to be seen in her work.
