Imagine bending not just spoons, but entire realities. The Matrix has you—are you ready to see how deep the twin-powered innovation goes? You're in The Matrix ! We talk about two different debated issues in the OT: 1) what does it mean to “take” (bear) the Lord’s name in vain (hint—it’s not what you think), and 2) Was David’s sin with Bathsheba a consensual affair or something closer to rape. 1:19:24This is a different sort of TITR episode. Just three dudes (but mainly Jay and Brian) bantering around about Rock and Roll. Brian Zahnd is a pastor and writer. Jay Newman is a pitmaster and BBQ artist. Both are avid students of music, specifically Rock and Roll, as you'll see. I love Rock and Roll and love the history behind it all. As far as theology goes, we don't really talk about a theology of music, but Jay does give a rather brilliant overview of why Rock music is theologically necessary toward the end of our conversation. Artists we discuss include Led Zeppelin, Bob Dylan, Rush, Elvis, U2, Nirvana, Eric Clapton, Motley Cru, and many others that I can't remember. -- If you've enjoyed this content, please subscribe to my channel! Couldn't she have resisted? 16:52 I am happy and flourishing in our church. My spouse is not. What do we do? 19:20 John 15:3...we're not called to be like Christ in this way right? What are your thoughts? 23:22 Do you have suggestions for how to talk to a spouse who gets hostile with key topics when genuine curiousity increases tension and elicits confrontational responses? 27:55 Old earth or young earth? 30:11 Thoughts on Luigi Mangione and the national response? Babylon seems like they want to free him. Is motive important? 33:13 Solomon's great wisdom didn't help him in the end. Shouldn't we read it through the lense that Solomon wandered from God? 36:51 Leviticus 17 prohibits eating blood. Jesus tells us to drink his blood. Can you reconcile this? 38:16 How did Christ's incarnation, death and resurrection change anything besides the need for the sacrifice? There's still so much injustice and suffering in the world. 42:08 "Leadership" has different secular and biblical meanings. Does the word "authority" differ in the Bible as well? 45:43 The new church I attended had a kids service with raffle and door prizes--it felt "icky."
