[This show is produced in Somali only; English caption of the show context is down below] This week on #TubtaNabadda, marking World Press Freedom Day, we discuss press freedom in Somalia. We speak with Farah Omar, the Secretary General of the Federation of Somali Journalists (FESOJ), about recent challenges regarding press freedom in Somalia. He also talks about how the government and other international organisations, in collaboration with local entities, can enhance the safety and independence of Somali journalists. We also hear from Layla Adeed Osman, the Executive Director of the Somali Women Journalists Rights Association (SOWJRA), about how her organisation works to close gender gaps in the media and promote press freedom in Somalia. She also speaks about proactive measures for enhancing the safety and protection of media personnel, especially women journalists. The programme is presented in Somali by Faiza Abdi and Mohamed.
