UtLS4E12: I Feel Dirty and I’m Alone
Manage episode 358108783 series 3353657
On this episode of Under the Library, a Call of Cthulhu Podcast:
In the front of the train, Buddy has just heard a disturbing wet pop, followed by frantic screams. He moves slowly towards the dining car and is approached by a stranger wielding an FBI badge. The man is Johnny Dante, although Buddy is in shock and can't acknowledge him. Johnny leaves Buddy behind to enter a bloody scene in the dining car.
Sam hears screams and moves towards the front of the train to investigate. He encounters a woman, shocked into silence and covered with blood, accompanied by a more talkative woman named Amanda. When Sam pushes for information and talks about infectious disease, Amanda becomes protective and trains a small handgun on Sam.
In the train that departed earlier, Sister B opens two of the strange boxes. She finds two bodies, one male and one female, each missing their heads above their jaws. She connects the state of these bodies to the fate of her brother Richard.
As our session comes to a close, Buddy finally steels himself to enter the dining car.

Under the Library, an actual-play Call of Cthulhu podcast, where cosmic horror is steeped in mystery and slathered with self-deprecating humor. Our main storyline, a sandbox created by our Keeper (Michael), is set in (a fictitious) 1942 New Mexico and follows the misadventures of Collette (Emily), Eddy (Scott), Sam (Rick), Sister B (Wayne), and Buddy (Arthur). We focus on narrative, improv, and character building. We may stick our heads in front of a train because that’s what our character would do, and when we look under the bed even the Keeper may not know what we’ll find. We’re crafting a story, creating flawed characters, suspenseful events, and fulfilling revelations. Call of Cthulhu is a horror TTRPG; characters die horribly graphic deaths. It’s for mature audiences, but played by immature people.
