What's up, skaters? It would be nice if there would be a rebuttal after that YouTubey "What's Up" greeting. It's very isolating, like having a conversation with your own canyon echo. Damn. This is getting off to a weird start. Let's get a do over. Welcome back to another episode of Vent City!!! Too much? Shit. Whatever. We've got a hell of a sincere show here with our incredible guest Ashley Rehfeld who helped us break into this business of mental health crises in skating. Sadly, being a skater doesn't make you immune to depression, or really anything else. So Kristin Ebeling, Alex White, Ryan Lay, and the author of these show notes talk about our individual experiences with mental stuff and what our journey through therapy has looked like. Are hotlines helpful? Maybe. They also might be an extension of the carceral apparatus. You won't get any hard answers, but you will get a few tools, options (openpathcollective.org), and insights into daily practices that help you feel like waking up is alright. Okay, I'm done now. you don't even fuckin' read this far down. Scroll down to see the trick challenge and the people off mic that help us out. Trick Challenge: Backside bluntslide on a curb or ledge (don't even think about doing it on a rail, you sicko) Pro Challenge: Backside bluntslide BIG SPIN OUT! It won't look great, but it can be done. Intro music by Roar Credits music by Dylan Bryne (naivetrax.bandcamp.com) Logo and graphic design by Michael Worful (@worful) Support the show: Patreon.com/ventcity Contact the show: DM @vent.city on Instagram. I'm way behind on emails.
