Hey there folks, welcome to your local weather report brought to you by the National Weather Service. Today we're diving into New York, New York to give you the inside scoop on what Mother Nature has in store for the Big Apple.
First off, if you're stepping out today, keep an eye out for a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. You can expect mostly sunny skies with temperatures reaching a high near 91. It might feel as hot as 98 with the heat index. The wind will be coming in from the southwest at 8 to 10 miles per hour.
As we move into tonight, that chance of showers and thunderstorms lingers at 30 percent, mainly before 2am. It will be mostly cloudy with a low around 69. The northeast wind will be blowing at 8 to 11 miles per hour.
Looking ahead to the rest of the week, Thursday brings a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms, especially in the morning and afternoon, with temperatures hovering around 72. East winds at 9 to 13 miles per hour.
Thursday night, another slight chance of showers and thunderstorms with a low around 66. The east wind continues at around 10 miles per hour.
Friday, there's a 20 percent chance of showers with mostly sunny skies and a high near 74. The southeast wind picks up a bit to around 11 miles per hour.
Friday night, expect partly cloudy skies with a low around 67.
As we head into the weekend, Saturday brings a 40 percent chance of showers in the afternoon with a high near 78. Saturday night watch out for showers and thunderstorms rolling in after 8pm.
Sunday maintains a 30 percent chance of showers in the afternoon and a high near 80.
And as we round up to Labor Day, expect mostly sunny skies with a high near 78.
