Creating sharp photographs is a basic requirement for most photographers. In this podcast I'll go through a few things to consider if you're not getting the results you want, but first of all, there's something to consider.
Sharp focus is a tool, rather than an end in itself. Just as exposure and composition contribute to the final result, focus can do the same. Compare it to the headline in an article, or book; it draws you in and, if you're sufficiently interested, you'll start to read the rest.
Focus works the same way. The area(s) of you're photograph that are in focus will draw people in. They will then go on to look at the rest of the image (the context of the subject using the 'Visual Storyteller' idea). So it's not necessary for everything to be in sharp focus.
Having said that, these are the 6 areas I discuss:

  1. Shutter Speed
  2. Lens performance
  3. AF settings
  4. Using a tripod or support
  5. Using Flash
  6. Post processing (I mentioned Topaz Labs Sharpen AI)

Enjoy the podcast.
