Black History Month: Black Women Whose Artistry Made Change. This episode shines a light on the activism and society contributions of Black female musicians, poets and actors. Some of our favorite people include Phyllis Wheatley Peters, Bessie Smith, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Maya Angelou, Jamilla Jones, Nina Simone, Motown Diana Ross, the Supremes, Martha and the Vandella’s, & Mickey Guyton.

All this, followed by an interview with history maker, Anika Noni Rose, best known for voicing Tiana, Disney's first African-American princess, as seen in the The Princess and the Frog. She was named a Disney Legend in 2011. She is also known for her starring role as Lorrell Robinson in the Academy Award-winning film Dreamgirls.
