I denne serie tager vi ud til Statens Kostskole for Blinde og Svagsynede – også kendt som Refsnæsskolen. Vi følger skolen ved Kalundborg fjord gennem 8 årtier. Fra åbningen af skolen 1898 frem til 1980, hvor skolen sammen med resten af særforsorgen blev udlagt til amter og kommuner. I mange år skulle alle børn med synshandicap i Danmark bo og gå i skole på Refsnæs fra de var 7 år. Det var bestemt ved lov og der blev kun gjort få undtagelser.
