Are There Too Many Sharks In The Gulf Of Mexico? Dr. Marcus Drymon is a marine fisheries ecologist at Mississippi State University, and his research interests are in applied fisheries ecology. The bulk of his research has focused on coastal sharks , Dr. Drymon provides insights on the historical context of shark populations, the reasons for their recovery, and the challenges faced by anglers dealing with increased shark interactions. The podcast discusses the increasing shark populations in the Gulf of Mexico and how it is impacting recreational anglers. He also discusses potential management strategies and the possibility of developing a sustainable commercial shark fishery. The hosts explore the frustrations felt by anglers and the need to find a balance between shark conservation and recreational fishing interests.
