Finding yourself and developing your voice is a natural progression as one becomes an adult. But, it is intrinsically difficult when who you are, is not readily accepted by your family and the society you live in. So how do you come into yourself and negotiate that space with all these forces against you?

Our guest knows a thing or two about creating his own space as a queer and a Coloured man. Jamil Khan is a writer, researcher and an advocate for Social Justice. He’s recently added another title, that being an author. In his book titled Khamr: The Makings Of A Waterslams, Khan shares how growing up in a middle class Coloured family with an alcoholic father and Muslim ideology, shaped who he is today.
