If one of your goals for 2021 is to change careers, change jobs, or find a more fulfilling way to grow, then this episode is for you.

According to Gallup's research, only ⅓ of workers in the US are actively engaged. If you find yourself in the other half or perhaps even in a toxic environment or stuck in a job you don't like, then you're probably wondering how you can make a powerful shift in your career...

Emily Quigley was exactly in this situation a little over 3 years ago when she worked as a marketing analyst in Kansas City. Being tired of feeling lost, missing the challenge of growing, she started seeking new possibilities for herself. Through the help of her friend, she learned about data science, quit her job, and moved to Denver to complete a 3-month data science bootcamp. Fast forward till today, Emily has been a data scientist at a multi-billion dollar San Francisco-based company for over 2 years and develops projects using optimization algorithms, machine learning, and statistics.

In this episode, Emily demystifies working in tech and makes it more approachable especially for those who don’t have a traditional background.

In detail, we talk about:

  • Emily's path of breaking into tech, how she went from being lost and frustrated in her career to finding a new path for herself and making it a reality
  • what data science is and how you can get into data science even if you don’t hold a computer science degree
  • the steps you need to take to identify the right role for yourself, and the principles you can apply to reach career fulfillment
  • misconceptions of job-hopping, how to ace job interviews and so much more.
