Why Worship [Make It Make Sense pt. 3]
Manage episode 384658593 series 2434147
Main Idea: Worship of God seems simple enough, yet many feel confused about what exactly worship is. Not only do most people not understand the practical aspects of worship and how to actually “worship” God beyond just singing a song, they also don’t really understand why we should worship in the first place.
Today we’re going to unpack different ways to worship and why they’re meaningful to our lives and faith. We’re going to look at the story of Job in order to better understand the struggle of worship. And we’re going to talk about the uniqueness of each individual’s worship and how it relates to their walk with God.
The reason that this is so important to talk about is because you should always know why you do what you do. While there is a blessing in having a simple and innocent heart to worship God, there is also strength for endurance to be found when you better understand the methods and purpose of worship. Life is full of ups and downs, and what we talk about today will help motivate and equip you in the path of genuine worship when you’re going through a storm.

1. What Is Worship
[WORSHIP IS MUCH MORE THAN A SLOW SONG]
(Romans 12:1; Matthew 25:34-40; Colossians 3:16-17)
While singing unto God is definitely a common method of worship. You are able to worship God in nearly every way of your life. Worship is about acknowledgment, dedication and heart. The reaction to our worship is often a strengthened connection to our Creator. When you start involving God with the different parts of your life, you can quickly see how even small decisions and actions are able to be acts of worship unto Him.
—
2. Agony Of Worship
[TO WORSHIP WHILE IN AGONY IS TO TRULY WORSHIP]
(Job 1:1-22)
The choice to worship God is always meaningful and good, but there is something special about choosing to worship God despite the anguish you may feel in your heart when you’re going through a dreadful season. It’s in those difficult moments that our decision to worship feels tested. But when you worship anyway, you make a monumental mark for your faith and its growth.
—
3. Unique Worship
[NO ONE ELSE’S WORSHIP IS LIKE YOUR WORSHIP]
(John 4:23-24)
Because God is understanding, He knows each individual to their core being. He literally understands how and why each person behaves and thinks the way that they do. Which means He sees every individual’s process in which they choose to worship despite what they’re feeling or going through. He sees their heart and distress as they call out to Him with such personal uniqueness like that of a Father for His many children. No single person’s worship is the exact same as someone else’s.
