Summary:
Righteousness is a gift we receive and walk in by faith. It's not our good works. It's receiving what Jesus has done for us and provided for us through His redemptive work.
Scriptures:
James 5:13-16
Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
Romans 3:21-22 NIV
But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe.
2 Corinthians 5:21 NIV

You have to walk in this by faith meaning daily you have to take action. What action? Simply speaking what you believe is an act of faith.
I encourage you to take a step of faith and begin to say that in Christ, you are righteous, you are right with God.
