Bumps, Bruises, and Brain Health: Keeping Young Athletes Safe (Without Bubble Wrap!)
Manage episode 441580755 series 3565405
Let's talk about youth sports! Not just the bumps and bruises; we’re talking about the really important stuff, like concussions and brain health. Did you know your brain is basically a sponge, and staying hydrated is key to keeping it safe? Yep, we’re getting into that! We’re also sharing personal stories of growing up on the field—from karate kicks and football tackles, to dodging rogue softballs. Wanna compare scars?
We also believe every sports field should have an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) on hand, no matter the sport. Whether it’s football, baseball, or even cheer, an AED can make all the difference in an unexpected cardiac emergency. Think about it, it's not only our kids playing the game. There's also family, friends, and coaches there too, all of the people there to cheer our kids on.
Did you know we've donated AEDs to schools and sports teams, and can offer some advice on how to get one for your own team?
Join us for an episode that’s equal parts storytelling and life lessons, and as always includes a few practical tips. Let's keep our young athletes safe, healthy, and in the game!
