Consider the people in your life. Do you have people who support and believe in you even when you doubt yourself? Do you have a community of women you turn to when chip happens?

Well, today’s gal pal, Shanna Kabatznick, recognized that all women are innate leaders no matter what role they play and that women need community. And, it all starts with self-leadership.

As a Latina woman who spent over 20-years in the male-dominated insurance and financial services industries, Shanna has turned her experience into a platform that encourages, empowers, and educates teams and leaders. Author of Called to Lead: Success Strategies for Women, she is a speaker, trainer, and facilitator who is passionate about connecting with people and energizing them into taking action. I think it’s her big smile and laughter, but maybe that’s just me.

In this episode we talk about:

  • Leadership is not a title
  • It is not selfish to take care of ourselves first
  • Women are leaders no matter which role they are in
  • Aligned strengths are what connect us to others

Here’s a glance:

[5:36] Shanna reveals the nail color quiz nailed her as an Amazing Adventurer.

[7:28] Shanna loves a relaxing pedicure but doesn’t quite have the time to let the polish dry.

[9:37] In her book, Called to Lead, Shanna suggests that women are leaders no matter which role they are in.

[11:21] What does self-leadership mean? Is it selfish?

[13:28] Shanna shares her story of when she took charge of her life and what she thinks of the term single mother.

[20:34] The Core Clarity strength-based assessment is a tool Shanna uses to identify innate talents and common threads within groups.

[25:45] Sometimes we must let friendships go if they are not supporting us or staying in a positive space.

[30:53] When you align yourself with your talents you shine because you are where you need to be.

[33:01] Shanna would create the FAB and Own It nail colors if given the opportunity.

[35:49] To Flip the Chip, Mary highlights Shanna’s courage when it comes to living life on her terms and for recognizing that women need to have a community that inspires them.
