‘Living with Ovarian Cancer Podcast’ is full of inspiring stories told by people or their loved ones, who themselves have lived with, or are still living with Ovarian Cancer.

Each person’s story is a gift; unique and is told from the heart in their own words. I am your host, Diane Evans-Wood. Please subscribe and leave a 5* review so that the show becomes more visible to listeners.

In this episode, I talk to Della Ogunleye who was diagnosed with Breast Cancer initially but developed Ovarian Cancer 10 years later and found out that she is BRCA positive. She tells me about the lead up her to her diagnosis of Ovarian Cancer and how she felt like she should hide the second cancer diagnosis due to the stigma she felt was attached to this. Della tells me about how difficult it is to discuss Breast and Ovarian Cancer within her Nigerian and Black people’s Communities and what she is doing to help change that. Della is an absolute whirlwind of vibrant energy.

Della mentioned Black Women Rising which can be found here https://www.blackwomenrisinguk.org

Della was involved in a fashion shoot with Girl vs Cancer which can be found here https://girlvscancer.co.uk

The book that Della mentioned is called “Thanks for the Mammogram ! Living through Breast Cancer with Faith, Hope and a Healthy Dose of Laughter” by Laura Jensen Walker.

Disclaimer: Each story in this Podcast is unique to the woman who is telling it. The content of each episode and the views expressed are not meant to be a substitute for medical advice or intervention. You will hear stories of women who sought alternative therapies, integrated oncology services or even choosing to decline treatment options. However, this is their story, and I am not advocating that you follow the path of any one woman who features in the podcast. If you have a diagnosis of Ovarian Cancer, please make sure that you discuss anything that is going to affect your treatment or wellbeing with your own Medical team. You are unique and so what’s right for one woman may not be right for you!
