Imagine you're walking down the street and you see a person. What do you notice first? Their hair? Their eyes? Their skin color? We often notice the visible physical features of other people and form certain expectations but what happens if someone is biracial or multiracial? The subtle socialized interactions of people from different cultural backgrounds can influence how biracial and bicultural folks also see themselves and sometimes the pressure to conform or leave less pronounced identities behind.
