In March 2015, Ashley Ruelland was driving to a bachelorette party in Mont Tremblant, when she was hit head-on by another car that crossed over the centre line on a Quebec highway. She was rushed to The Ottawa Hospital’s Trauma Centre and spent nine months in hospital. Ashley shares her story including:
  • enduring over 100 hours of surgeries.
  • how she woke up from a coma to learn she was a functioning quadriplegic.
  • the importance of celebrating small victories during her recovery.
  • the sport she loves and how she’s back at it today.
  • what it means to have The Ottawa Hospital in our community — something she never thought of prior to her collision. (28:33)
