1. Spanish in the US - part 1 of 3
Manage episode 316913327 series 3300769
What is the current state of the Spanish language in The United States and how has it changed over the last 25 years?
This is part 1 of a very revealing conversation between José Erre --Spanish We Do founder-- with Alicia Civita (@AliciaCivita), a journalist from Venezuela who moved to the US in 1994 and has worked since for the Spanish news services of Reuters, The Wall Street Journal, EFE, Reader's Digest (Selecciones), El Nuevo Herald, Los Angeles Times, Mamás Latinas --a leading Latinx blog-- and currently again with EFE as an entertainment correspondent. Her arch from hard news to showbiz over 25 years puts her in a unique and broad vantage point to diagnose the current state of the Spanish language in the United States.
Her insights will be extremely valuable for every business or individual interested in the Spanish language; and that --of course!-- includes our translation and localization team.
Part 2 will approach showbiz in particular --where the actual language of society is used.
Part 3 will approach politics, sports, Spanglish --it's not what it used to be-- and "The Switch."
Spanish We Do is a production of SpanishWeDo.com; a translation and localization team for text, subtitles and voice-over from English into Spanish and Spanish into English.
