Do you ever get frustrated because your wife won’t tell you what she wants in bed? You’d do pretty much anything to make sex great for her, but she won’t give you a clue.

A woman in bed with tape over her mouth.

There are a few common reasons for this:

  1. She doesn’t know what she wants. I realise this sounds crazy to most men, but it’s all too common for women. It stems from being told sex is dirty, bad, and wrong when she was a child. That keeps a girl from thinking about sex. It also keeps her from exploring her body freely.
  2. She has some idea what she wants, but she won’t tell you because good girls don’t discuss such things.
  3. She thinks it’s wrong to do what she wants.

As you might guess, all of these are more common for women brought up in sexually repressive homes. But it happens with girls who didn’t get that from parents, as our society still has some pretty negative ideas about female sexuality.

Here’s an idea to help you get around these things. Do two things, and ask her which she liked better. So, for example, use your hands to play with her nipples, then suck on one. They ask, “Did my fingers or my mouth felt better?” You can do the same thing with how you stimulate her clitoris, different position for intercourse, how you thrust, and so on.

When you do this, go slow and be careful. Don’t ask her a bunch of questions. Start with one. And don’t ask anything the next time you have sex. If it goes okay, try two questions. Also watch your language. Avoid sexual words as much as you can. Noticed my question above about nipple play didn’t use the word nipple, or the word suck.

It will take you time to work through various things and find what she likes, but if you take your time and think it through, you might both learn what she enjoys sexually.
