For this episode, I got to sit down with a lovely friend and fellow blogger, Lorna Ruane. Lorna works is the Associate Director of Research and Analytics for some of the world's biggest companies that we use and rely on every day. She comes from a family of 10 in Mayo, and started out her career working with numbers helping her dad out at the horse racing.

Lorna studied a Ph.D. in Marketing (fashion and brand relationship) in NUI Galway. During her final year, Lorna launched her blog and social media, LC’s Closet, where she documented her outfit and interest in fashion for the past seven years.

She decided to leave her brothers and sisters and set up a new life here in New York, where she has continued to work for the biggest brands in the world. She also still shares her outfits on Instagram, alongside her obsession and dedicated interest in the Royal Family.

Lorna and I spoke about the realities of a Ph.D., leaving Ireland, an insight into the US workplace and the pros and cons of living in New York.

If you’ve ever wondered what value a Ph.D. might bring to your career or what it’s like to work in New York this one is for you!
