Memento Mori - use your mortality (#003)

Memento Mori is in basic concept of Stoicism

Memento Mori, remembering one's own mortality, is not only a popular concept of the Stoics in antiquity, but also very important in many other philosophies. Nonetheless, this “technique” once again achieved a very special meaning among the ancient Stoics and took on a status that cannot be overestimated.

Memento Mori - Death is our friend

Death is the great equalizer, it hits us all - sooner or later. No wonder many (most?) people prefer to suppress thoughts of death rather than face them. Not being in this world anymore, leaving important personal projects unfinished, being without your loved ones, leaving people who need you alone – all of these ideas are of course painful and, shall we say, ugly. But that doesn't change the fact that we all get sick or die at some point. So, we better face these facts and that os exactly what Memento Mori means.

Life is a lethal "disease"

“Life is a contagious disease that always is lethal”, I once heard somewhere, unfortunately I can't remember where. Which is definitely true: being aware of your own mortality is infinitely important to our own development, this was true for the ancients and it is true for us today.

Memento Mori introduction

In this introductory podcast on the subject, you will learn the first approaches on how you can use the existence of death sensibly for you and why immortality is not a pleasing solution either.
