A lot is happening this week leading up to this year’s presidential election. In this week’s Yes Mujer Build It episode, I explain why I no longer talk about politics with most people. If you are feeling even the slightest bit overwhelmed with politics and people who don't seem to care or understand...Please listen to this episode.

I share my journey with politics, how it has evolved over the years, and why I choose to use my energy to create change in a more sustainable way.

I’ve always felt a deep connection to justice and advocacy. In my 20s, I was active in politics, attending rallies and protesting. At one point, I even considered becoming a lawyer to help fight the injustice of the criminal system. During holidays, I could get entangled in heated debates with family members over which policies and beliefs I care for. This would lead me to unhealthy conversations, leaving me feeling drained.

Transformational work taught me that I’m responsible for all my results and taught me a new way to look at my conversations. I learned to build a closer relationship with my INTENTON. I'm responsible for whether or not I'm affecting change, how I show up in spaces, and the relationships I cultivate around me.
What transformational work did for me was open me up to the reality that I am a CHANGE AGENT. And how I define that is up to me,

So, I stopped wasting my time on a lot of people. I decided to use my energy on people already aligned with my vision—people who, like me, wanted to forward the Latino agenda for social and economic justice.
In this episode, you’ll learn:

  • Why setting your intention first is important
  • How transformational work teaches personal responsibility
  • How to save your energy for the things that really matter
  • How to listen and focus on your core beliefs
  • How political work can be done in various forms
