"Change doesn't happen from leaders or the people with the most followers. It's sometimes the people with the most anonymity who create the most change." -- Jonathan Rivera, a minimalist and conversational activist. Jonathan uses a technique called “extreme listening”. Here, he engages openly with people he disagrees with to find commonality. Jonathan brings people together who have different mindsets to sit together at a table and share their perspectives. His mission? To encourage others to learn why someone’s unique experiences shape what they think and how they feel about certain topics and issues. It's not about focusing on differences, he says, but on common ground. One of Jonathan's most memorable experiences was meeting a politician he didn’t see eye-to-eye on. “Even though I disagreed with him on a lot of what he said, I was still able to find commonality and something we both shared a passion on. I left the conversation with a friend,” he tells Enough-ism. Learn more about conversational activism and extreme listening in this unforgettable episode of Enough-ism.
