Sabreen is a Sudanese-Canadian who was born in Moscow and is my latest guest. During this conversation, she shares how she has been misdiagnosed for so many years and the impact it had on her. She also shares how she reacted when she was given the correct diagnosis and who she called on to support her during these challenging times.

Sabreen also shares how her stubbornness was a contributing factor for her bottling it all up and also wrestled with not being happy with the appearance of her body. With a strong trust in God, Sabreen finds strength in her scars as a reminder of her incredible journey.

I appreciate Sabreen's openness and authenticity in sharing her story.

More about Sabreen:

I am a Sudanese-Canadian who was born in Moscow, Russia. I have lived in Egypt, Yemen, Sudan, UAE (HINT: Dubai) and here I am in Canada so when people say where are you from? I don’t usually have a clear answer to that

I work with autistic children as an Instructor Therapist. I enjoy writing the most and learning new things. I also love talking about and experiencing different cultures! I take my time to appreciate the similarities and differences of cultures to make the best out of my learning.

In addition to being a writer, I am the podcast producer of “The Lemon Narrative with Sabreen” podcast. Through my travels I was always bothered by how visual identities are judged, I always sensed stories hidden within the people I met. Therefore, I started a treasure hunt through my writing and my podcast. I call it a treasure hunt because I always come across beautiful stories, I always find home within each character I talk to and home is my treasure and my favourite place to be.
