We all experience occasional anxiety - it is a normal part of life. However, it morphs into a problem when it starts disrupting daily routines and affecting overall wellbeing. People with anxiety disorders frequently have intense, excessive, persistent worry and fear about everyday situations. This requires a proactive approach to manage and reduce it. Start by identifying triggers - what situations or thoughts spark anxiety. Focus on healthy lifestyle habits like regular exercise and a balanced diet. Learn relaxation techniques such as meditation, deep breathing or yoga. Today’s modern lifestyle adds another layer to the situation as well - our technology. Growing up in a hyper-connected world through technology readily available at our fingertips, can often evoke intense feelings of isolation and loneliness. A report states that 48% of Generation Z and 44% of Millennials report some mental anxiety and this is largely due to the impact of technology. Remember, adequate sleep is crucial for maintaining mental health as well, so ensure you are getting enough rest. Seek professional help if required - therapists, psychiatrists, and support groups can provide valuable guidance and strategies to manage anxiety effectively. This generation faces chronic stress from many factors, including school shootings, student debt, joblessness, and politics. Remember, it's okay to ask for help and to take care of your mental health. After all, taking care of your mind is as important as taking care of your body. Anxiety levels are significantly elevated in Generation Z and millennials, therefore they feel a sense of urgency to discover strategies to reduce stress levels and develop effective coping mechanisms for their everyday lives.
