Dr. Martha Tesfalul is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) within the UCSF Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences who cares for patients both within UCSF Health and in the Alameda Health System. She received her BA in Sociology with a minor in Health Policy from Harvard University and her MD with a concentration in Public Health and Service from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Martha completed her OB-GYN residency and MFM fellowship at UCSF, and during the latter she also undertook the UCSF Preterm Birth Initiative (PTBi) Transdisciplinary Research Fellowship. While she grew up in Houston, TX, she credits her deep roots in Eritrea, the country from which both her parents immigrated, for shaping her upbringing and identity.
