Unlocking Longevity: Practical Tools For a Longer Life
Manage episode 365760804 series 3473850
On this episode of Life after Kids, we’re discussing practical tools for living longer. And, we’re breaking down the key points to the little energy factories in our cells called mitochondria. You’ll learn easy ways to keep your cells and mitochondria working efficiently so you can achieve better longevity and metabolism. Note that mitochondria are microscopic organelles that break down the food we eat on a cellular level to provide our body with energy. If your mitochondria aren’t functioning well, you can experience fatigue, loss of energy and decreased longevity. Plus, scientists are beginning to understand that aging and death occur from your mitochondria wearing out and being unable to produce energy. Can you see why keeping your mitochondria healthy is so important to a long life?
There are many ways to treat the mitochondria well and keep them working productively. This includes things like eating a balanced diet that includes goat milk products, foods high in polyphenols (like olive oil), and MCT oil. Hot and cold exposure and intermittent fasting are also effective ways to keep your mitochondria working well, along with exercising, and reducing stress. By treating the mitochondria with care, we can promote longevity and maintain our energy levels.
Other ways to promote longevity that are discussed in this episode are: walking, hyperbaric oxygen chambers, and reishi mushrooms. We also give advice on how to start incorporating these activities and food items into your daily lifestyle. Ultimately, once you understand the basic science behind mitochondria and what it takes to keep them healthy and working efficiently, you’ll be better equipped to live a long and fulfilling Life after Kids.
