In this episode, I'm chatting with McLean McGown, a Motherhood Coach, Postpartum Guide, Doula, and host of the podcast Mother the Mother. After the birth of her first daughter, McLean quickly realized that there was a great need for women to be supported on a deeper level, not only through pregnancy and birth but also during the Postpartum shift. Through her own Postpartum journey with little support, she made it her mission to show up for other women as the kind of loving support that she wished she’d had.

In this episode you'll learn:

  • How investing in yourself postpartum (or at any point!) is an investment in family wellness
  • How Americans are largely ‘lost at sea’ on a cultural level when it comes to caring for new moms
  • Why mothers need extra support postpartum always - but especially because so many of us are already depleted on a foundational level before we even birth our babies
  • How our experience of womanhood is on a continuum with one experience informing the next
  • The story of how I learned unmet needs never truly go away until you meet them - even if it’s years after the fact
  • How we’ve outsourced our trust in our body’s innate wisdom and what that means for women everywhere

A radical mother is a woman poised in her power ready to disrupt cycles of generational trauma running through her family like wildfire. She's working to improve her life, the lives of her children, and shape the landscape of her community. If that's you - you're in the right place.
This podcast is designed to connect you with resources, inspiration, and the reminder that you are not alone as you embark on your journey of radical mothering.
I’m your host Christa Bevan and I’m a nervous system educator for cycle breaker moms as well as a certified TRE (trauma releasing exercises) provider, and a trauma-informed yoga instructor. And of course, a fellow Radical Mother. My approach to this work blends neuroscience backed tools and heart-centered intuition.
