Point of clarification: Catherine developed Chorioamnionitis again with Oliver, and it caused her to suddenly go into early labour, causing him to be born early. Oliver did not have any signs of infection and thankfully it didn't pass to him like it did Amelia.

In this week's episode of The Worst Girl Gang Ever, Bex and Laura speak with Stephen, who shares his heartbreaking experience of losing his daughter Amelia after 19 weeks of pregnancy. He discusses the emotional challenges he and his wife Catherine faced and the isolation he felt as a male partner during the grieving process, demonstrating the need for better support for men.

Stephen also talks about the coping strategies that helped him, including mental health tools and support from his workplace and the Forget Me Not Fund. He reflects on the complexities of navigating a pregnancy after loss, highlighting the importance of finding joy in the present while managing emotional triggers.

In this episode, you'll discover:

  • Stephen's journey with the loss of his daughter Amelia
  • The isolation experienced by men during the grieving process
  • Coping mechanisms and support systems for Stephen and his wife
  • Navigating pregnancy after loss and the birth of their son, Oliver
  • How milestone occasions can be emotional triggers
  • The value of focusing on creating new memories
