On some level, we’ve all feared being judged for who we are. It can be subtle in some cases and very apparent in others.

Today, I’m joined by a new friend I met in Provincetown, Massachusetts. I went to JC Rea’s salon, and during my visit, she not only got me out of my shell, but we also connected over some profound truths in our conversation...especially about how we look at people on the surface. And I can’t wait to unpack some of those for you on the show!
In this Words of Love podcast episode, you’ll learn about JC’s transition from a biologically-born male to an openly trans female. You’ll also hear about the powerful lesson and skill set she possesses that I immediately recognized as a physician and how she came to be known as Momma.
3:58 - JC’s bio and the surface judgments we make about other people

12:21 - The sensation of loneliness despite all the attention during JC’s reality show days

16:31 - What happened when JC decided to transition in 2019

24:14 - What it’s like for JC to look in the mirror now and be back in Provincetown as a new person

31:24 - How the Provincetown community serves as an intersection for non-mainstream, under-represented identities

36:35 - The person who thrived in recovery despite being on the margins (of the margins of the margins) of society

41:24 - Who Momma JC is, how she came to be, and how she ended up on The Boston Globe’s front page

50:38 - What JC plans to do next
