When a young Eva Kollisch arrives as a refugee in New York in 1940, she finds a community among socialists who share her values and idealism. She soon discovers ‘the cause’ isn’t as idyllic as it seems. Little does she know this is the beginning of a lifelong commitment to activism and her determination to create radical change in ways that include belonging, love and one's full self. In addition to Eva Kollisch’s memoirs Girl in Movement (2000) and The Ground Under My Feet (2014), LBI’s collections include an oral history interview with Eva conducted in 2014 and the papers of Eva’s mother, poet Margarete Kolllisch, which document Eva’s childhood experience on the Kindertransport. Where are you on "I am..."? Is it supporting you, or detracting from what you're wishing you could do, be, or have? Are they propelling you forward, or holding you back? Are they making you healthy and happy, successful or abundant, and supporting you in love and happiness, positive habits and the like? Or is your life completely sideways and you're no longer even trying? Is it your "I am..."? Is it the unconscious programming or filing away of thoughts into your unconscious that's keeping you from whatever it is you are (or could be) striving to attain? Health & Wellness / Weight-loss or gain? Money? Career aspirations? Newfound love? Are you finding you're especially struggling despite listening to a particular speaker or celebrity? Or have read certain books? Or subscribe to a coach like me? Those are all amazing, and I applaud you for the effort (and encourage you to continue)...but...if you're then affirming where you CURRENTLY are with OTHER thoughts on where you are (or have been or 'should' be), then it's entirely possible your neurology is 'protecting you' from your best efforts. Have a listen, and let's discuss!…
As we were preparing to launch the newest version of AbundantMind.ca, I was trying to ensure I was as fully engaged in your progress as possible, and so I sat with where I felt I've been hearing you ask most for help. Without question, it was largely 'Authenticity'. And for some (I might even go so far as to say 'most'), it's not that you're even consciously aware of your need for help in that realm...and yet you're all struggling with challenges that - were you able (read 'willing') to be more authentic, more genuine in how you're showing up, you'd be well on your way to better managing (AND overcoming) what's challenging you most. So, with that said, we launched a 6 module, 49 lesson course (you can access it here if you'd like) within the new platform, and I felt it appropriate to encourage you to look at authenticity (not pushing you toward my course, but genuinely asking you to take a look inside YOU...inside SELF). How are you showing up today? Who are you showing up as? If I were to force you to sit in the present moment, would you know who you are, and would you feel 'on track'? If not, that's a starting point. A cue.…
When something goes wrong, we don’t have to go with it! We don’t! If we can accept the fact that things DO go wrong, and in doing so we release our need in ‘hitching our wagon to it’ and going everywhere else that negative situation goes.
...and that’s awesome! It means that no matter how challenging today (or this past week, month, or year) has been, that period of challenges will end. Knowing this - and coming to terms with the fact the good times will also end (or, at the very least, ‘change’) prepares us for that eventuality, thus lessening the stress, anxiety, remorse or grief, regret, and the like when it finally does happen. Balance.…
“If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all!” What if we practiced that more without our ‘self’? Right?! Maybe you’re struggling to buy into talking yourself up to...well...yourself. I get that. It’s not always easy (especially at first). But how about just not always trash-talking yourself to your ‘self’?…
Would you rather be able to take a detour at your next bit of construction? Or just be held up in traffic, instead? Not getting where you need to be on time - if at all? Take the detour. Take it now. A change of course is absolutely better than dead on your original course.
We call our negativity, cynicism, anxiety and the like ‘being human’. What if that’s not right?! What if that’s a cognitive bias fed to us by one of the first, most determined cynic?! Thinking can help us find failure and unhappiness...and so it should be able to also help us find success abs happiness, right?!…
It’s making you sick! It absolutely is! And I’m perfectly happy - and actually wildly excited in the idea that our thoughts can equally make us better. At the very least, however, the evidence is overwhelming in that they can make us sick...and so which thoughts can you eliminate today, in an exercise in not making your health (physical or mental) worse? Give it a go!…
Better still, I’d rather see what YOU come up with! I mean, hey, this is YOUR life that you’re living, right?! So father your advice. Do your research. And then consider what it could all mean...for YOU! 🙏🏻❤️
From the ‘pause’ that I teach you in my Mindfulness Program, to scientific studies around the health benefits of regularly slowed breathing once daily, to...well...needing oxygen, breathing is wildly important!
...and yet, some of the most important. Well, excluding #s 4 & 6, maybe. And while I may not be able to help with those, I’d like to help you with the others. So much as to at the very least encourage you to say them more. A lot more.
Showing it. Speaking it. Feeling it. We all receive SO much over the journey of our lives...and most often give as equally. Do others show you gratitude? Do you show gratitude? To self? To Universe, God, Divine, Creator? How might it change things for you if you did? Your energy. Your psychology. Your physiology. Think it could really make that much of a difference that it’s worth it to write out a ‘10 Things I’m Grateful For’ list each morning?…
Saw this shared a few different times over these past couple of days, and felt it was worth the conversation. Where are YOU on the ‘push scale’? And depending on where you are, do you feel it affects how able you’ve been in achieving or finding what you want to be, do, or have in your life? Something worth pondering, no?…
Have you ever talked to yourself in the mirror? Taken an honest look at yourself, and had a discussion? We can otherwise brush stuff off, right? But when we have eye contact - even with ourselves, it can be much more difficult to lie. To tell ourselves stories or make excuses. How about some positive encouragement, instead? Some love of self. Some compassion.…
