On the 84th episode of the Jiu-Jitsu Outlet show, I talk to former MMA fighter and wrestler Roy Koyama about the work he is doing to make wrestling more accessible to the next generation.
Roy first fell in love with the martial arts after training with the Machado brothers back in the early days of the UFC and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu first arriving in the USA.
Eventually making his way into mixed martial arts (MMA), Roy fought in the cage to test himself and improve as a martial artist.
Later in life, Roy would return to martial arts as a way to help his sons in their maturity.
In this episode, we talk about how wrestling helped Roy and his sons improve their mental health and life off the mats. We discuss what combat sports like wrestling can do to help young kids develop into amazing adults.
Roy also shares about the non-profit he recently started to help make wrestling more accessible to kids around the world - starting in his home of Springfield Missouri.
