Usually when we think about hormones, we think about mood swings, bloating and weight gain. But our hormones play a massive factor in everything from emotional control, to alleviating pain, bloating and inflammation, better sleep, steadier eating patterns, stress management and sex drive.

And knowing how to control our hormones means having much greater control over how we show up physically, mentally and emotionally in our relationships.

Here, we’re talking with Andrew Costa, Registered Dietitian, Holistic Nutritionist and host of The Hormone Helper podcast, who works with hundreds of people to balance their hormones naturally through diet and better habits. The resulting shifts are life-changing and contribute to a better version of you…for yourself and your partner.

In this episode, Andrew and I are talking about:

  • How hormones affect your physical, mental and emotional health
  • Hormone functions, including thyroid, cortisol, estrogen and testosterone
  • Which hormones are responsible for different bodily functions
  • Why hormones play a major role in emotions
  • How to balance hormones through diet
  • Mood swings during menstruation
  • Why couples should talk openly about periods
  • Why most men today have low testosterone
  • How foods like salt, zinc, and magnesium help regulate hormones

I learned a ton in this interview! Let me know your takeaways from this discussion on hormones - I’d love to know your thoughts. Email me or DM me on Instagram @emilygoughcoach.
